2014 is going to be a momentous year. Russia’s Winter Olympics, the FIFA World Cup in Brazil, the US and UK will finally draw their last troops out of Afghanistan, NASA’s New Horizon’s aircraft will cross the orbit of Neptune after 8 years on the road and it will also signal the 20th year since Cradle of Filth released The Principle of Evil Made Flesh. How time has flown since the British extreme metallers stormed onto the scene with that spine-tingling debut.
The dark art and craft masters have blazed a grotesque trail all across the globe in these two decades and seem keen to give something almighty as a celebration. They released this statement:
To honor this momentous occasion, we are planning a whole smorgasbord of exciting stuff, including the first-ever CRADLE OF FILTH comic, the release of a career-spanning double disc best-of (more on this including the chance to vote online for your choice of tracks to feature later this week) and, of course, the subsequent touring.
Possibly the most intriguing element is the ‘adult comic book’. Scripted by writer Kurt Amacker(alongside Dani Filth of course) it is said to be in the process of being mocked up for possible publishers. Dani went on to say:
I am very excited about this venture, as it promises to be a very adult story woven straight from the CRADLE OF FILTH universe, featuring a liberated Oscar Wilde, the Demoness Lilith, nefarious sexual magickal practices and an errant Suffolk Lord who is in the unenviable process of being charged under 19th-century blasphemy laws, discovering himself engaged in a nightmarish occult netherworld.
So keep your eyes peeled and your diary free for what is going to be a year to remember.
