Turnstile have announced the departure of one of their founding members, guitarist Brady Ebert.
The Baltimore hardcore band announced the departure via an Instagram story simply stating "Turnstile and guitarist Brady Ebert are parting ways. We are deeply grateful for our time together. Our love for him continues and we wish him nothing but the best moving forward. Love, Turnstile" You can view a screenshot of the post below.
No further explanation has been given as to the reason for the exit of the guitarist who has been with the group since they formed in 2010. Ebert's last release with the band is 2021's Glow On. One of the absolute standout albums of 2021, Glow On is a forward-thinking, hyperactive blast of creative energy and expressionism. Glow On cemented the band as THE band to watch in modern hardcore, with their creative choice to leave no stone unturned in their quest to achieve their kaleidoscopic, genre-hopping intent, finding favour not just in our corner of the world, but outside of it as well, resulting in moments of genuine mainstream crossover. Those moments of mainstream crossover include a much celebrated appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
The performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! followed a previous TV appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers. The band also went viral twice of recent time, firstly for their appearance on NPR institution, Tiny Desk Concerts, and then thanks to Demi Lovato delcaring them her favourite band and posting a photo backstage from one of their shows.
Speaking to Maniacs earlier this year, vocalist Brendan Yates explained that the creative expressionism found on Glow On is a representation of where the band is at now.
"The cool thing about being in a band or making music is that every record you make, or every song you put out, is a reflection of where you are at that given point in time. I think this record is defining where I’m at right now. Turnstile is this constantly changing and growing thing, so I’m very excited about what we’ve been able to put together as a reflection of where we are at right now."
