    Tool have taken out the 2020 Grammy award for 'Best Metal Performance' for their track '7empest', taken from their long-awaited album Fear Inoculum.


    While the Grammy Award ceremony doesn't traditionally cast a light on much heavy music, Tool went up against a wide range of heavy genres in Candlemass, I Prevail, Killswitch Engage, and Death Angel to win the coveted golden gramophone.


    Drummer Danny Carey said of the win:

    "As artist we're influenced by those who came before us and as far as the great drum gods, I do my best to channel them, namely John Bonham, Tony Williams and recently my good friend Neil Peart. This is for all of you guys."

    The win marks Tool's fourth Grammy award in their career, following one in the same category for 'Ænima' in 1997, 'Schism' in 2001 and 'Best Recording Package' for guitarist Adam Jones' work on the record 10,000 Days.

    The band were also nominated for the 2020 'Best Rock Performance' Grammy award, but were ultimately beaten out by Gary Clark Jr.
