Californian post-hardcore turned modern rock icons Thrice have released their 11th studio album Horizons/East via Epitaph Records.
Self-produced and recorded in their own New Grass studio, the Scott Evans mixed record finds the band presenting yet another side of their ever-evolving musical language, showcasing a more meditative melodic soundscape.
These melodic meditations serve as the perfect platform for vocalist/guitarist Dustin Kensrue's lyrical ruminations on the fragile and awkward arrangements that pass for civilization and his encouragement to be more present and attentive in our own lives. That Thrice manage to provide such a reflective piece, without surrendering the harder edge of their past works is a testament to their enduring adaptability and authenticity.
Horizons/East communicates Kensrue's growing comfort with uncertainty and continues the band's impressive track record of using uncertainty as a key wonderment and progression.
Horizons/East was pre-empted by the singles Scavengers, Robot Soft Exorcism and Summer Set Fire To The Rain.
