While they were in Melbourne for their recent in-store signings, we were lucky enough to get some time with The Amity Affliction front man Joel Birch and bassist Ahren Stringer to chat about their Misery video trilogy!
We had a good chat about the inspiration behind the video trilogy, what it was like on set, what we can expect from the guys in future videos and more.
Unsurprisingly, a large part of the stylistic inspiration behind the videos was classic Australian crime drama (e.g. Chopper, Two Hands, and Animal Kingdom). We'd love to see Misery become a fully fleshed-out film or TV series, but for now we will have to content ourselves with the Misery trilogy which you can view below. Keep an eye out for a cameo from Joel's son Bowie about half way through the interview.
Misery Playlist
While we were filming the interview, Joel and Ahren put together a special Misery playlist for us. The idea behind the playlist was to pull together a bunch of Aussie tracks that would make up the musical score if Misery was an actual movie. Check it out!
