For many Aussie heavy music lovers, The Amity Affliction are a band that has become the soundtrack behind many memories, good and bad for nearly a decade and a half.  Fans would have been looking forward to their national tour which kicks off this Saturday supported by Waxx, Void of Vision and Nerve Damage.

However, unfortunately TAA and Live Nation officially announced that whilst this weekend's Brisbane leg will still go ahead, the Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide shows are postponed to February 2022 due to the 'rona and venue capacity restrictions.  The band shared via their Facebook page on Friday:

This is truly the period where the gift of covid just keeps on giving. We’re sure you’re sick of it, we certainly are, and to have to put shows on hold actually hurts emotionally at this point. We have done this now for coming up on two decades, and so to have lost our outlet in this period has been devastating. Not only that, but the entire reason why this is so special to us is because of you. It is your singing along, your support, your time, your dedication that allows us to keep on going.

 

We feel like music is the vessel that brings us all together, and live music is nothing if not the church at which we can lay our worries down at the door and spend some time letting go. We have rescheduled the shows for early next year, we are so, so sorry, but the continuing apathy shown to the arts industry as a whole completely takes away our means to give you what you deserve. Thank you for hanging with us throughout this period, we will get to play to you soon.

Both sold-out Brisbane shows will be combined and now takeplace at Eatons Hill Hotel Outdoors this Saturday 3rd July but you have until 5pm Thursday 1st July to request a refund if you can't make it.

For fans residing in states outside of Queensland, perhaps the next best thing is a live set Amity recently did on triple j's The Set.  The metalcore giants not only performed, Soak Me In Bleach, from their 2020 album Everyone Love You...Once You Leave Them, but a randomly awesome rendition of the AC/DC classic, TNT, alongside Peking Duk and Jesswar.

Peking Duk do an excellent job of kickstarting the iconic tune introducing it and laying down an electronic contribution.  Amity's Joel Birch and Ahren Stringer go back and forth taking over the simple chorus of the 1975 classic, with Stringer surprisingly mimicking the Bon Scott tone quite well.

Given the simplicity of the song, the highlight is perhaps Jesswar's rapped verse which tops off the unlikely genre-crossing collab.  But Amity guitarist, Dan Brown, comes close with a dope 70s solo.
