After shocking the Aussie heavy music scene by announcing a comeback earlier this week and then promptly selling out their first shows in 15 years in hours, Sunk Loto have today announced new dates in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.
The Gold Coast nu-metal icons turned alt-metal monsters will now hit the stages Brisbane three times, with a new Brisbane date added to the tour for the 30th of July at The Triffid. Fans in Melbourne and Sydney will have to wait till November for the band to break their '15 years of silence' with shows to take place at Melbourne's Max Watts on November the 25th and Sydney's Factory Theatre on November the 26th. The refreshed tour poster can be found below. Tickets for all shows are on sale now via venue websites.
If you had to list the most important heavy Australian albums of all time, it’s likely that Sunk Loto’s 2003 release Between Birth and Death would be near the top, and metal aficionados still consider the band one of the most influential home-grown bands of the early 2000s. At Maniacs we've always felt Between Birth and Death is an underappreciated classic of an exciting era for heavy music in Australia. For 15 years it has been considered the final destination point on a dizzying ascent for a band that burned bright befoe cruelly fading away.
Signed to Sony in 1999 when the average age of the band members was 16, Sunk Loto released an EP and two albums over their 10-year history. They toured the world with bands like Korn, Linkin Park, Suicidal Tendencies, Perfect Circle, Deftones, and Sevendust, and staked their claim as an epic live band at festivals such as Big Day Out, Homebake, Vans Warped Tour, Splendour in The Grass, and Falls.
Now, after 15 years apart, Sunk Loto are geared up to announce a return to the stage with shows along the east coast, the shows will feature all four original members, lead guitarist Luke McDonald, bassist Sean Van Gennip, vocalist Jason Brown, and drummer Dane Brown, who have come together to reconnect with their fans, entertain, have fun, and reignite their love of playing music.
After "five years of silence" x 3, now is the moment for fans to catch Sunk Loto back at it.
