Stand Atlantic have dropped a massive new collaborative single GIRL$. Kickstarting a new era for the band, GIRL$ sees the Australian pop-punk giants team with PVRIS and Bruses to deliver a statement of creative intent. GIRL$ arrives accompanied by the news that Stand Atlantic's fourth studio album, Was Here will be released on August 23 via Hopeless Records.
Speaking on GIRL$ Stand Atlantic’s Bonnie Fraser shares: "I feel like the message of the song speaks for itself, i wanted to show my appreciation for women and personally, my experience growing up knowing i was attracted to women but still feeling like i had to fit the mold of the male gaze, just based on the way i was influenced by a male dominated society. i hope other queer women and women in general resonate with this track, but also anyone in between. i wrote it for anyone who’s ever felt squashed by the strange and subtle pressures society can place on young people based off old as shit paradigms."
"That being said, having Lynn (pvris) and Amalia (Bruses) on this track made it so much more meaningful to me personally. both female, queer and talented artists i respect so much. making this music video was a friggen gas, me and lynn both had the same idea independently of each other when she agreed to be on the track - ‘lets be old ladies’. im sure ppl expected us all to be selling sex and queer baiting the shit out of this - so we did what any rap video would do, but as old ladies.”
Stand Atlantic doesn't care about your expectations or your narrative. They don’t want to tell a story. In fact, they didn’t want this bio to exist. The band released their third studio album f.e.a.r. (fuck everything and run) via Hopeless Records in 2022, which debuted No.10 on the ARIA Album Chart. After the album racked up ~80 Million streams across all major streaming services combined thanks to smash singles like hair out, deathwish (ft. nothing, nowhere) and pity party (ft. Royal & the Serpent), the band has only continued their explosive success.
PVRIS toured Australia last year as part of the Good Things Festival in support of their fourth album EVERGREEN. The singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist co-produced the record alongside collaborators including Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda.
As a fiercely passionate LGBTQ+ woman, Lynn Gunnulfsen has fought her entire career to ensure her voice is heard and her art is not compromised in a male-dominated world. EVERGREEN is a call to empower other women and individuals to strengthen their voices.
Musically EVERGREEN showcases PVRIS' musical progression with her unique and compelling blend of electronic, rock, and pop elements. EVERGREEN arrived accompanied by the video for one of the album's standout tracks, I Don't Wanna Do This Anymore.
Directed by Jax Anderson and Gunnulfsen, the video connects all the previously released visuals from EVERGREEN, calling back to arresting images like Gunnulfsen split between nature and a synthetic world, and Gunnulfsen battling internal distress and conflict. With visualizers launching for every song on the album, Gunnulfsen shares a unique companion piece, immersing fans into the world of EVERGREEN.
