It's been just a little while since we've heard anything new from A Perfect Circle, so we were pretty stoked to hear their brand new track The Doomed earlier today!
“Fourteen years have passed since we released eMOTIVe,” said Maynard James Keenan. “A new release is long overdue. In light of this current difficult and polarized social, spiritual and political climate, we artist types need to open our big mouths and share the light a little louder.”
“Years of life experience has brought our music to this moment,” added Billy Howerdel. “We know where we came from. Deeply connected to the path we’re on.”
For those MANIACS who were too young the first time around, or somehow managed to miss these guys entirely (really?), here are just a few A Perfect Circle essentials to get you started.
A Perfect Circle's current lineup consists of Maynard James Keenan (Tool) on vocals, Billy Howderhel on lead guitar, James Iha (The Smashing Pumpkins) on guitar & keyboard, Matt McJunkins on bass, and Jeff Friedl on drums.
If you were wondering if these guys are any good live, then take a squiz at this fantastic recording of their track By And Down, shot live at Red Rocks back in 2011.
In an interview way back in January, guitarist Billy Howerdel told Billboard that the band had begun work on their first album since eMOTIVe (2004), citing busy schedules for the lengthy gap between records:
"There’s so many scheduling things between all of us. Maynard’s got a lot of projects going on, and it felt like a few years ago it was going to happen, but this is just the way the schedules lined up. But I’m always excited to get the machine back up and going.” Read the full interview here.
