First impressions count, and Sydney metalcore band Harroway have made theirs strongly with the debut single 'Shine', which you can check out below.
'Shine' offers up a stark contrast of deep, melodic instrumentation pierced by raw harsh vocals to create a layered listening experience.
The band have also recruited an impressive list of respected names to help out on the track, including audio wizards Sonny Truelove and Will Putney (Fit For An Autopsy), whose New Jersey studio was used to master the song, and Third Eye Visuals for the kaleidoscopic video clip, who have previously worked with bands like Parkway Drive, In Hearts Wake and Gravemind.
Vocalist Matt Banks says the meaning of 'Shine' is about never giving up on following your dreams, no matter how bleak things can get:
"Over the course of the writing process riffs and structures changed, and so did my mood, so the verse became an outlet for the dark personal things I was dealing with at the time - which was basically feelings of not being good enough. Keeping the original intentions for the song in mind, I reflected back on all the positive words of encouragement I had received over the years while trying to follow my dreams which I summed up into the lyrics: ‘But I remember something you said, never forget the reason your heart beats in your chest. Keep the fire inside. We’re all born to shine"
Harroway's lineup consists of former members of local bands Maybe I’ll Live Forever, Isotopes and Like Royals - definitely a band to keep your eye on!
