Brisbane melodic hardcore band Wildheart are pulling absolutely no punches on their incendiary new single 'Rising Tide', and the equally-intense video is premiering right here on Maniacs!
The new track is the first output from the five-piece since their 2018 EP We Are, and carries with it an important message about the repeated mistreatment of indigenous Australians - those that have had their homes, their children and their rights taken away, the continuous mistreatment by government and law enforcement, the growing number of incarcerations and Aboriginal deaths, and the ongoing racist rhetoric that has plagued the first nations people.
Equal parts vitriolic rage and impassioned melody, 'Rising Tide' also features guest vocals from fellow Yugambeh/Bundjalung man Shaun Allen of Nerve Damage. Check it out:
As an Indigenous man from Yugambeh himself, the track is close to vocalist Axel Best's heart, and Best explains that "Rising Tide follows on from our last single Depression. Oppression. Anxiety. (D.O.A.) released in 2017 where the lyrics deal with issues of bigotry and racism on a more global spectrum, whereas Rising Tide is very much a personal statement about issues surrounding the indigenous people of Australia."
The band will also be on tour throughout November supporting Darwin's Summit, as well as playing in support of Ambleside in their hometown. Here are the full dates:
