When you think of thrash metal, you can't really go past New Jersey's Overkill. Forming all the way back in 1980, they have somehow managed to consistently put out banger albums to this day. Now, they've announced another new record called The Wings Of War which will be out on February 22, marking their 19th full-length release as a band.
The first single 'Last Man Standing' is a savage track which features pounding d-beats, destructive riffs and excellent vocals from Bobby Ellsworth. Crazy to think that the band still sounds this good after so long! Check it out below:
Since their inception, Overkill have churned through 17 previous band members including one guy credited as Joe, who apparently played with them for a month back in 1982 (there's literally no other info about this mysterious Joe character, but there you go!).
Both bassist D.D. Verni and frontman Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth have remained in the band for its entire 38-year history, and still sound bloody good for a couple of guys nearing 60 years of age!
Listen to Overkill now.
