Aussie metalcore giants Northlane have taken time off their touring schedule to release a standalone single 'Vultures', which happens to be the most relentlessly aggressive song the band have released in years. Featuring no clean vocals throughout its duration, the song doubly serves as a scathing statement for the band, who have been on the receiving end of criticism from some fans for a shift in sound after Adrian Fitipaldes quit Northlane in 2014. Vocalist Marcus Bridge explains:
“The main message is not having to live up to someone’s expectations or live within someone’s idea of what you should be, it stems from a built-up number of things over the last few years that comes with people expecting what we are supposed to sound like as a band since I’ve come on board.
A lot of that stuff that has given us this feeling to want to talk about it. It’s important to be true to yourself and not let anyone mould you in a way that isn’t the way you want to be.”
The track has been released on a 7" vinyl along with a range of new merch which you can cop here. Do you prefer this heavier side of Northlane? Let us know what you think!
