It's been a hairy few years for the black metal kings Immortal; in 2015, their iconic vocalist Abbath left the band over a legal dispute between its members about the ownership of Immortal's trademarks which ended up being awarded to guitarist Demonaz and drummer Horgh. The two remaining members also accused Abbath of using material intended for future Immortal releases for his own solo project instead.
With Demonaz moving to take over vocal responsibilities and Horgh remaining behind the kit, the duo have kept it together to release Northern Chaos Gods, their first material since Abbath's departure. We have to admit - we were a bit skeptical about the prospect of the band existing without Abbath at the helm, but even with new vocals it still sounds as ferocious as ever!
Northern Chaos Gods serves as the title track from their upcoming ninth studio album which will be out on July 7th via Nuclear Blast. Let us know what you think.
