Since the release of Jonathan Davis' debut solo album Black Labyrinth at the end of May, the Korn frontman has been regularly releasing webisodes of Through the Black Labyrinth, with each episode going into some fascinating details about the writing and recording process of a different song off the record.
The fifth episode was released today and looks at the album's second track Final Days, one of the more interesting numbers on there thanks to the heavy use of middle-eastern instrumentation. The song actually has some pretty huge contributions on guitar from Wes Borland (Limp Bizkit), drums from Ray Luzier (Korn) and a surprising appearance from violin wizard L. Shankar who has worked with everyone from Elton John and U2 to Peter Gabriel and Frank Zappa.
There is also footage of Davis performing the song on his Black Labyrinth tour, where he improvised a lot of the vocals together with Shankar.
You can check out the first four episodes on the Sumerian YouTube channel.
