Byron Bay metalcore heroes In Hearts Wake have officially returned with a stunning new track called 'Worldwide Suicide' - their first in three years - and you can check out with an official video below.
While the band's themes have always revolved around mother Earth and the health of her ecosystem, 'Worldwide Suicide' demands climate action in a furious manner rather than simply asking.
Vocalist Jake Taylor says:
‘The Antarctic has reached an all time high temperature of 20.7C. The Australian bushfires have burned over 12 million hectares of land, killing over 1 billion animals. The Climate Crisis is pounding on our door and we need to take action while there is still a window to turn it around. It’s time for profound systemic change as individuals and as a community.’
The track, presumably timed before their appearance at the now-cancelled Download Festival, is a powerful wake-up call about the current state of the planet, and it's a very different approach from the Byron Bay lads, interweaving some Prodigy-esque vibes with heavy metalcore for a result that feels strikingly fresh.
In addition, the band have announced that for ever 1,000 views on the video above, they will plant one native tree in Australia next Spring. It's awesome to see a band take steps to turn their music's message into a positive reality.
We are totally dependent on the Earth & its inter-dependent ecosystems for our survival. To harm any part of it, is to harm ourselves. Ecocide is Suicide. Create and share awareness.
