It's Friday, Friday, got to get your fresh metal fix on Friday. That's right Maniacs it is finally Friday which means it is time to kick off the weekend with some Friday Fire.
With so many new metal releases dropping every week, it can be hard to know what to listen to, so we've taken it upon ourselves to do the heavy lifting, sorting the 'hell yeah' from the 'hell meh' you don't have to. So without fear or favour, here are is our Friday Fire: Five New Tracks We're Feeling This Friday.
Mastodon - Teardrinker
The second single to be taken from their upcoming double album, Hushed and Grim, Teardrinker sees Mastodon turn up the emotion, with sorrowful guitar lines and a spacious production setting the scene for pain drenched vocal melodies that are as impactful as they are catchy.
Featuring dynamic vocal interplay from Troy Sanders and Brann Dailor, Teardrinker showcases a more soulful side of Mastodon.
Hushed and Grim is out October 29th via Reprise Records.
Converge - Blood Moon
Hardcore legends Converge announced a bold new collaborative album this week, Blood Moon: I.
Blood Moon: I will see the Salem heavyweights team-up with dark songstress Chelsea Wolfe, her bandmate/writing partner Ben Chisolm, and Cave In vocalist/guitarist Stephen Brodsky. Blood Moon is out first taste and is an emotive post-metal masterpiece that features some unconventional yet brilliant harmonic vocal interplay from Converge frontman Jacob Bannon and Chelsea Wolfe, placed against a dense, sombre post-metal soundscape.
Fit For An Autopsy - Far From Heaven
The New Jersey metal kings Fit For An Autopsy will release their new album, Oh What The Future Holds on January 14 via Human Warfare / Nuclear Blast. Far From Heaven is our first look at what promises to be huge release. A perfect storm of airy guitar cutting through a primal percussive groove, neck-snapping riffs and a chorus that hooks itself into your brain long after the song ends. This has us super hyped for the record!
Carcass - The Scythe's Remorseless Swing
Ferocious and uncompromising in their execution, Carcass's s ability to intricately dissect the innards of death metal and display them for us to sonically understand has been their point of excellence for over three decades. Lifted off of their brutal but brilliant new record Torn Arteries, The Scythe's Remorseless Swing showcases everything that Carcass have always done better than every other death metal band out there. Don't overthink it, just crank it up and let your head do what it knows it must in reverence.
Of Mice & Men - Mosaic
At its best, heavy music produces songs of escape and catharsis. Few bands demonstrate this ethos as powerfully as Of Mice & Men. A track about questioning whether or not we, as human beings, can overcome our seemingly primal need for combativeness, Mosaic is Of Mice & Men in full on skullcrushing mode, an unrepetentent and unrelenting stomper that delivers an essential question with a level of venom befitting our current worldwide hellscape.
