It's Friday, Friday, got to get your fresh metal fix on Friday. That's right Maniacs it is finally Friday which means it is time to kick off the weekend with some Friday Fire.
With so many new metal releases dropping every week, it can be hard to know what to listen to, so we've taken it upon ourselves to do the heavy lifting, sorting the 'hell yeah' from the 'hell meh' you don't have to. So without fear or favour, here are is our Friday Fire: Five New Tracks We're Feeling This Friday.
Knocked Loose - Where Light Divides The Holler
Modern hardcore icons Knocked Loose released a stunning and visionary new EP A Tear in the Fabric of Life yesterday. The most dynamic and contained offering of their career, A Tear In The Fabric Of Life artfully displays the considerable scope of the band's creative vision, incorporating new sonic and visual elements that see Knocked Loose reach new levels of expression without sacrificing their trademark passionate delivery. The EP's opening track Where Light Divides The Holler sets the scene perfectly, crank it up, then watch the animated short film for the entire EP below.
Zeal & Ardor - Götterdämmerung
Last month, Swiss firebrand alchemists Zeal & Ardor announced their forthcoming, self-titled new album, set for release February 11, 2022 via MVKA. Now Zel & Ardor have give us our fourth taste of the album with the barnstorming Götterdämmerung. The heaviest track we've heard from the record to date, Götterdämmerung sees Zeal & Ardor dig deep into their black metal and death metal grab bags to create a ferocious cacophony of sinister sounds that has us absolutely champing at the bit for the record to drop. Crank this up, NOW!
MØL - Vestige
MØL return with their second studio album, Diorama on November 5th via Nuclear Blast and we're stoked on what we've heard so far. Latest single Vestige is the Danish blackgazers in full-flight, delivering a ferocious yet sneakily melodic attack on the senses. If this is the future of blackgaze, we're all in!
Ice Nine Kills - Funeral Derangements
Slashercore kings, Ice Nine Kills have turned the spooky season up a notch with the Pet Sematary inspired song and video Funeral Derangements. The fourth and final single from their upcoming full-length The Silverscream 2: Welcome to Horrorwood which was released today, Funeral Derangements is heavily inspired by the Stephen King classic Pet Sematary and in typical Ice Nine Kills style, wears that influence on its gloriously bloody sleeves in the cinematic video. On the musical front this is Ice Nine Kills at their most intense, with ferocious vocals, riffs that rip harder than Jack The Ripper and an addictive chorus. Watch the cameo filled video below.
August Burns Red - Vengeance
Metalcore veterans August Burns Red dropped this surprise standalone single Vengeance overnight and it does everything that August Burns Red do well in under three minutes. This is an all-out sonic assault from a band that are at the peak of their powers as they tackle the 10th anniversary tour for their epic Leveller. Vengeance combines blistering instrumentation with searing anger and a pointed lyrical perspective that showcases just how pissed off they are with the divisive state of the world right now. Welcome back, August Burns Red.
