It's Friday, Friday, got to get your fresh metal fix on Friday. That's right Maniacs it is finally Friday which means it is time to kick off the weekend with some Friday Fire.
With so many new metal releases dropping every week, it can be hard to know what to listen to, so we've taken it upon ourselves to do the heavy lifting, sorting the 'hell yeah' from the 'hell meh' you don't have to. So without fear or favour, here are is our Friday Fire: Five New Tracks We're Feeling This Friday.
Mastodon - Pushing the Tides
Pushing The Tides is our first taste of the feverishly anticipated ninth full-length album, Hushed and Grim. All gnashing riffs and pummeling rhythms that steamroll towards an expansive refrain uplifted by a ghostly chorus melody, the track is the first step in the latest evolution of the Mastodon sound. Hushed and Grim is out October 29th via Reprise Records.
We Came As Romans (feat. Caleb Shomo) - Black Hole
We Came As Romans return with Black Hole. The first original song they've released since the tragic death of singer Kyle Pavone in 2018 sees band member Dave Stephens take on the clean vocals, joined by Beartooth frontman Caleb Shomo on an anthemic jam about overcoming anxiety. It is a fittingly epic and positivity induced return from a band that continues to bring hope to many.
Carnifex- Cold Dead Summer
Blacked deathcore dynamos Carnifex dish up pure sonic domination with the crushing Cold Dead Summer. The punishing track comes off of the band's eighth studio album Graveside Confessions out now via Nuclear Blast Records.
Blood Command- The End Is Her
Norwegian death pop purveyors Blood Command have been a fave around the Maniacs office for a while, but that love has grown so much more since the Bergen band added Melbournian Nikki Brumen on lead vocals earlier this year. We got our first taste of the former Pagan frontperson fronting Blood Command with the deliciously devilish A Villains Monologue earlier this year, now we get to hear the poppier end of their death pop spectrum with The End Is Her. Fans of Pagan may be surprised to hear Brumen's clean vocals here, but if this is the sign of things to come from Blood Command this could be huge.
Papa Roach - Kill The Noise
Papa Roach showcases the powerful, anthemic side of their sound on Kill The Noise. The second track from their forthcoming album following the funky fun of Swerve Produced by WZRD BLD (A Day To Remember, Bullet For My Valentine) and Andrew Goldstein (Linkin Park), it is a powerful example of heavy riffs and emotional lyrics, driven by singer Jacoby Shaddix’s ongoing mission to help anyone overcome mental struggles and anxieties. The accompanying music video, Directed by Bryson Roatch, takes the viewer on a journey of escaping the confines of your own mind through a raw and energetic performance.
