  • Deftones' Stephen Carpenter Could Be Using a 9-String Guitar on New Album

    While we already knew that Deftones have been in and out of the studio to work on their next record, what we didn't realise is that guitarist Stephen Carpenter is now the owner of a custom 9-string ESP guitar!

    ESP Guitars shared a snap of Carpenter holding the black behemoth on their Instagram page, which you can pop your eyeballs out with below:

    Yeah, it's only got half as many strings as Jared Dines' ridiculous 18-string beast, but that thing is also just over-the-top for the sake of it.

    Fingers crossed Stephen will use this axe on the next record - we could end up with something stupidly-heavy! We'll be keeping you very up-to-date on any further Deftones album info as it unfolds.
