With every new Slipknot album cycle comes a new round of impeccably creepy masks for the band to adorn, and with a new record due out later this year, we should be seeing some new faces being revealed soon.
In the meantime, Corey Taylor has revealed that he's been working with the Hollywood horror prosthetic legend Tom Savini for the first time on his new mask. Savini's illustrious career dates back to the 1970's and has done make-up for films such as Dawn Of The Dead, Day Of The Dead and Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter. Yep, this is a guy who helped design the iconic Jason Vorhees character!
Speaking on the Let There Be Talk podcast, Corey explained how the connection came about:
I had the privilege this time around, the new stuff that I’m working on, to work with Tom Savini. He’s the godfather to me. Got to hang out with him, got to talk with him. Met him through a friend who actually works with him. And the three of us were kind of developing this new mask together so I’m kind of fuckin’ chuffed on that.”
Taylor gave a very cryptic tease of the new mask back in December, which sent fans into speculation overdrive:
Slipknot released a surprise single 'All Out Life' on Halloween last year, and are shooting for a mid-2019 release of their next full-length album. What do you think the new mask will look like?
