Sydney industrial/electronic act SKYND made a big arrival last year with their single 'Gary Heidnik' featuring Korn's Jonathan Davis - a video which has since had over 2 million views on YouTube.
Keeping true to their themes of serial killers and cults, they've just released a dark new track called 'Jim Jones', which explores the story of the cult leader responsible for carrying out the infamous Jonestown Massacre in 1978 which resulted in the poisoning and subsequent deaths of over 900 of his followers.
The song does a good job of capturing the story of the massacre, and the accompanying video is full of striking imagery, including an actor who looks remarkably similar to the real-life Jim Jones. Check it out:
"I always wanted to write about Jim Jones because I've long been fascinated by how easily people are manipulated when it comes to religion," Skynd said about the source material for the latest song and video. "It was interesting how people followed him while ignoring all of the facts to the contrary about who he truly was."
"We put the facts of the story into music," she continued. "I was also intrigued by the audio tapes of him talking his followers into suicide, I knew I had to write about it."
