A snippet of an unreleased song by Slash featuring Linkin Park's Chester Bennington has surfaced this week on the Guns n' Roses' themed podcast Appetite For Distortion. The track titled, Crazy, was originally demo number three off of Slash's 2010 solo album and features Bennington singing in a style that could be compared to Guns n' Roses frontman, Axl Rose.
In the podcast episode that aired a couple of days ago, producer and engineer "BigChris" Flores who worked on Slash's solo record gave some insight into the collaboration and why it never went ahead:
"Chester (Bennington) came over and he tracked those vocals and then closer towards the end of doing the album - Linkin Park, I guess, they didn't want Chester to release anything while they were doing their album, or before they released their album. So (we) ended up getting Lemmy (Kilmister) on that song which turned out to be Doctor Alibi on his album. Chester got shelved."
As he goes on to explain, Flores found the old demo six years later and asked permission to release it from Bennington's wife and mother who hold the rights to the material. The song was not released at that time but after Slash brought it up in a few interviews, permission was granted by all parties for it's release. A 1 minute clip of the song was aired at the end of the Appetite For Distortion podcast after Fores' interview.
"I'm hoping they release it soon now that it's getting back some life.
