A self-styled Spider-Man is taking the webslinger’s ‘with great power comes great responsibility’ motto to heart by running for office in India.
Gaurav Sharma, a former martial arts trainer for Mumbai police, often leaves people in a spin when he appears on their windows or hanging from their balconies asking for their support.
The 32-year-old is using his climbing skills to shun the traditional door-to-door campaigning as he pushes for a seat in the power house of parliament.
Mr Sharma hopes voters will think of him as a friendly neighbourhood superhero who can solve their problems, like the character in the comic books and films.
I really think that so many politicians can take a leaf out of Gaurav Sharma’s book and follow suit of superheros because well, superheros are awesome and politicians are in dire need of a bit of awesome. While I’m not entirely sure that I’d love anyone coming to knock on my window (lets be honest, it would scare the crap out of me), you can’t say that this guy has got some good technique going. And apparently, it’s even working.
If any of you are budding politicians (that still have your souls in tact…well of course you would if you’re reading Maniacs!), I suggest you take note.
