While heavy music doesn't recieve much attention at awards shows, there is a spattering of quality among the nominees for 'Best Metal Performance' including Korn's Rotting In Vain, Gojira's epic Silvera as well as progressive metallers Periphery for their track The Price is Wrong. Megadeth and Baroness round out the nominees for their efforts with Dystopia and Shock Me respectively.
There was not a lot of love for the mighty Metallica, however the band did pick up a nomination in the 'Best Rock Performance' for their comeback song "Hardwired", while Disturbed's cover of the Simon & Garfunkel ballad The Sound of Silence also recieved a nod in the category. Newcomers Highly Suspect picked up their third ever Grammy nomination for My Name is Human.
Finally, the Grammy for 'Best Rock Album' will come down to a battle between Blink 182, Cage the Elephant, Gojira, Panic! At The Disco, and Weezer whos albums were all highlights in the field during 2016.
The 2017 Grammy's will be held on Monday February 13th (AEST)
Good luck to all the nominees and congratulations on some truly outstanding releases!
