It's that time of year again folks, when Australia gets to pretend we're part of Europe and send our best to compete in THE biggest and best songwriting contest known to exist, the Eurovision Song Contest!
Despite a valiant effort from Voyager in Australia Decides, the Aussie entry for this years contest, Sheldon Riley while excellent, isn't very metal, so while we wish them well in their quest to bring the land down under our first Eurovision Song Contest crown, we find ourselves looking to what we hope will be significantly more metal entries from Finland's The Rasmus (yes the same ones responsible for In The Shadows) and Bulgaria's Intelligent Music Project. With Italy's Måneskin winning last years contest with Zitti E Buoni the prospects for heavy acts in the contest have never been better.
To pregame for this weeks contest and just because this stuff is a not-guilty pleasure of ours around the Maniacs office, we've made this list of the ten most metal moments in Eurovision history for your listening pleasure. Follow us down the rabbit hole, eccentricity and enjoyment await.
